JAM camp is held over a weekend during one of the school holidays. The date can vary each year as it is dependent on availability of accommodation and facilities required.
The next JAM Camp is being hosted by the Auckland Region in 2019 - further details to follow when available.
Medal Tests will be held at the JAM Camp.
JAM Camp has been held since 1997 and is open to all JAMs (Junior Association Members) aged from 7-19. All JAMs under the age of 16 must have a designated adult responsible for them.
Here is a selection of comments from a few JAMs at JAM Camp 2017 in Masterton.
You can read more comments in issue 2 of Jigs & More
Emily (Waikanae): My favourite dance was Petronella because it is super tiring and I got to dance with my friends. It made the JAM Camp 10x as much fun. I also really enjoyed the ball because there were lots of interesting purple and green clothing.
Emelia (Milford): I really loved the friendly atmosphere at the lessons, even if you messed up it was fun. The people teaching and helping out were amazing, and I loved meeting JAMs from other areas of the country who I would never have met otherwise.
Jennifer (Little Thistles):I enjoyed dancing De'il Amang the Tailors with no hands, because it was something different. I made new friends and got to know some of my old friends better. Outside of class my friends and I had lots of fun talking and playing games.
Edward(Waimate): Great to meet old friends and make new ones. It was great to have so many young dancers in one place, especially teenagers. I really enjoyed the bumper cars and bowling too.
